![]() by VC Edwards During the Christmas season, the world conveys an image of Jesus Christ as an infant. The world celebrates Jesus’ birthday, with renditions of “Away in the Manger” and “Silent Night,” along with scenes of the Nativity, depicting Jesus as an adorable, innocent baby in a manger. Jesus was born a baby, which verified that God came to earth in the flesh, but He grew into manhood to become an exchange for us, to free us from eternal punishment. Yet, we celebrate the Savior of the world, as a baby, the One who victoriously conquered death, who has all power to take our place of death, and who ascended into heaven. The Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth. John 1:14 KJV The tradition of presenting Jesus Christ, the Savior of the world, as a defenseless baby, keeps Him frozen in infancy to the world. When thinking of Jesus as a helpless baby, we believers can’t experience His power and authority in order to live victorious, even though “we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us.” Romans 8:37 We don’t celebrate children’s birthdays by continuing to celebrate them as an infant every year. As people mature, they are celebrated on their birthday for their age, signifying maturity, not repeatedly celebrated as a baby. Jesus Christ, of all beings, should be the least one celebrated as a baby. Jesus was born as a human and grew into adulthood to carry out His purpose to take our place of punishment, and reconcile us to God. When we celebrate Jesus as a baby, we dismiss His history, His miracles, His profound love for us, and OUR power as beneficiaries of His existence. The only one who benefits by us celebrating Jesus as a baby is the Devil, who doesn’t want us to claim our true position of power, in Christ. And He hath on His vesture and on His thigh a name written, KING OF KINGS, AND LORD OF LORDS. Revelation 19:16 KJV Jesus could not save us if He had not grown from infancy to manhood; we would not be victorious through Jesus if He had not grown into manhood to carry out His purpose of dying for our sins and conquering death. “Jesus’ throne has been established forever!” Not only is Jesus not a baby, He is to be celebrated for eternity as God because it is recorded in history that He has transcended from human existence (a birth decree was recorded) to deity by rising from death with all power (a death decree was pronounced), ascending to heaven (people witnessed He was alive after death and the guards admitted they didn’t have the body, even though it was secured with a Roman seal), never to die again, proving Himself to be The Messiah, who was foretold centuries ago. Jesus’ throne has been established forever! Jesus Christ is forever alive, victorious over death! He is King forever! Jesus Christ is Savior, Defender, Provider and Protector of everyone who acknowledges Him as King of kings and Lord of lords—not as a helpless infant, but as the One who changed humanity forever!
