![]() Despite circumstances in society and in life, you can train yourself to block depressing thoughts and fill your mind and life with indescribable joy if you accept Jesus Christ, the Prince of Peace, as Lord of your life. 1. KEEP DARKNESS OUT OF YOUR LIFE Don’t go into spiritually dark places. Don’t sing dark lyrics, don’t watch horror movies or depressing TV shows, and don’t read dark stories. (Don’t entertain children with violent movies or horror stories!) Don’t tamper with spiritual darkness (mind games, witchcraft, metaphysics, voodoo, etc.). Even if you are an actor, never portray a dark character in an acting gig, regardless of the pay. Guard your spirit and mind, at all times, by engaging in sensible, optimistic and light-hearted activities. 2. BE SUBSTANCE-FREE Don’t wallow your sorrows in drugs or drink alcohol, which only exasperates depression. Problem-solve, by seeking answers from The Word of God. Read “How to Hear God to Prosper,” a quick read that gives countless answers to life that many spend a lifetime trying to understand. Once you get your answers from God, you will have the faith to be instantly delivered from any addiction. Recovery does not have to be a crutch for life. Be kind to your body and eat sensible foods—get a good intake of vegetables and fruits into your body to give your mind a healthy attitude. And soups are great stress reducers. 3. LIVE CALM Instead of listening to loud, dark and edgy music that sounds like noise, take walks in the park. Live a simple life, personally, and professionally. Your spirit and mind are delicate, so live a life of calmness. And look to God for stability in life. 4. KEEP YOUR EGO IN CHECK You are NOT God and if you ever let people think you are, you will end up in a dark place because God is a jealous God. He shares His glory with no one, because no one can match Him. 5. SUBDUE YOUR FLESH Don’t engage in physical activity that is sensual, such as provocative dance. Don’t obsess about your body—and avoid altering your body with piercings, tattoos, etc. Avoid pornography. Find a healthy hobby to occupy your time. 6. AVOID VIOLENCE Avoid violent activities and environments. Don’t go to places where a violent incident is likely to break out. Seek the peace of Jesus to defuse your anger. 7. SELECT FRIENDS WISELY Don’t associate with people who bring you down, who live in worlds of darkness. Associate with people who have uplifting attitudes, and who engage in sensible activities. 8. IT IS UNWISE TO CURSE GOD There is nothing amusing to God about using His Name in vain. Keep God’s Name holy. 9. STAY IN THE LIGHT Let Jesus Christ, the God of love, be the Light of your life. Jesus, the Light of the world, is the only One who can overpower darkness and fill an empty void.
