Do you have your elaborate wedding plans set and are just waiting for a proposal? If you can rule out cheating or still looking, as the reason for not proposing, one huge issue that stops a man cold in his tracks is finances. If you and the man you want to marry are not on the same page, financially, this can be a huge problem for him. If you live in a fairy-tale land and your man lives in reality, he is not going to co-sign onto a fairy-tale wedding with an outrageous price-tag, to blow his budget for the next 5-years!
The thing you need to address with the love of your life is, “Would he be ready to marry you if you could let your extravagant wedding plans go and settle for a small elegant, but inexpensive wedding?” Many marriages have ended that started off with an extravagant wedding, because the wedding was simply unrealistic for the average person and the marriage started off with astronomical debt.
If this is the problem, you have met a sensible man, which can be an indicator of a great provider. A simple wedding can be elegant if you are resourceful. Just like a woman wants a great provider, a man wants a woman who is resourceful and respectful of him and his hard work, to provide for his family.
A man, who is sensible, will not accept co-sign onto a financial roadblock that is a problem for his stability, so that roadblock has to be removed. While he would like you to have a day that will make you happy, he doesn’t want to be set up for disappointment in the marriage, because the finances don’t add up. When a person divorces, their finances and credit can take a huge hit that can take decades to recover. So, if you don’t change your plans, to something small and sensible, you may be waiting forever to marry.
There are endless ways to have a great, yet inexpensive wedding. A wedding can comprise of a handful of people or, if you have a large family, you can have an informal wedding in a family backyard, a place that holds great family memories. Use natural growing flowers for decoration and have food “catered” by family members. Having a huge wedding at an expensive catering hall is a place that holds no memories for you and your family. Having a wedding at a place you grew up at can be more memorable in years to come.
If a woman is extravagant with a wedding, she will probably be extravagant with all spending, which can cause a man to question whether a marriage would work. So, instead of making all your plans for the wedding day, start planning for the marriage, and start cutting back on spending, to learn the art of spending sensible and saving for a long and lasting marriage.
